The Johnston Brief
Tuesday afternoons in the warm months, the Johnston Town Center fills up with produce stands, food trucks, live music and neighbors. Here's the simple version: the day, the time, the address, the season, and what you'll find when you get there.
The Johnston Farmers Market runs Tuesdays, 4-7 p.m., at the Johnston Town Center, 6221 Merle Hay Rd (between City Hall and the GrandStay Hotel). The 2026 season is June 2 - Sept 29. It's free to attend, with produce, baked goods, crafts, live music and food trucks.
The market runs Tuesdays, 4 to 7 p.m. in season at the Johnston Town Center (6221 Merle Hay Rd), in the space between City Hall and the GrandStay Hotel. It's the same Town Center that hosts The Yard summer concert series, so there's plenty of parking and room to linger. A Johnston tradition since 1989, the market brings Iowa produce, baked goods, honey, cheeses, cut flowers, garden art, crafts, live music and usually a food truck or BBQ stand.
Vendors rotate week to week, so the lineup changes across the season. Late summer is peak Iowa sweet corn, tomatoes and squash, right up through the September finish. For the current vendor list and any weather updates, check the City of Johnston farmers market page.
